Optimization of Rougher Flotation Parameters of Zonguldak Fine Coal Using Response Surface Methodology ( Orjinal Araştırma )

In this study; modeling and optimization of rougher flotation parameters of Zonguldak fine coal (particle size; -0.5 mm, ash content; 46.10 %) was investigated by using response surface method. Central composite rotatable design was employed to evaluate the influence of independent variables; kerosene dosage (x1), methyl isobutyl carbinol (MIBC) dosage (x2), sodium silicate dosage (x3) and the solid ratio (x4) on the dependent variables; the weight of the rougher concentrate (y1), the ash content of the rougher concentrate (y2), and the combustible yield (y3). Model equations were developed for each dependent variables and then results were evaluated by using analysis of variance. The accuracy and validity of the models were discussed and threedimensional graphics were plotted. The optimum conditions were calculated by using Design Expert 8.0.7.1 software program. It was determined rougher concentrate could be obtained with the weight of 64.54 %, the ash content of 23.88 % and the combustible yield of 91.78 %. These results were taken with the help of parameters; 200 g/t diesel oil, 125 g/t MIBC, 1846 g/t sodium silicate and 10 % solid ratio.

In this study, the representative lignite coal samples supplied from Kastamonu-Tosya region were dried in a conventional drying oven and a microwave oven, and then they were ground by a laboratory rod mill. The particle size analyses of the ground samples at various grinding times (10, 20, 30, and 60 minutes) were carried out, and the results were compared. As a result, the d80 particle sizes of the samples, dried in the conventional drying oven, were determined as 350, 183, 180, and 100 μm after grinding for 10, 20, 30, and 60 minutes, respectively. On the other hand, the d80 particle sizes of the samples, dried in the microwave oven for the same drying times, were found as 240, 175, 160, and 97 μm, respectively. Besides, Hardgrove grindability index (HGI) values of ground lignite samples after drying with two different mechanisms were also calculated and compared to each other.

Today, many underground mines are realizing all or a certain portion of the ore transportation by belt conveyor systems. In this study, the requirement to deploy flame-retardant conveyor belts in the case of operating belt conveyor haulage systems in underground metallic mines is investigated from the occupational safety point of view and evaluated taking in to account six different criteria.

Being explosion proof may be defined as the most important feature for the equipments used in explosive atmospheres such as underground mines, refineries and fuel stations to have a safe working environment. With this feature, equipments that have the potential to produce an arc or a fire are isolated from the explosive atmosphere. While the globally used explosion proof standarts are basically the same, different countries have their own certification schemes, IECEx (internationally) and ATEX (Europe) being the most known ones. Certificates used in different countries in the world are all based on the IECEx standard in general terms and there are minor differences The aim of this article is to introduce and compare compulsory certifications for equipment that used in hazardous environments, especially in mines, in different countries. It is aimed to contribute to the selection of equipment that will allow our country`s mining industry to be informed and to make safe mining.
